Creative journaling for enjoying daily life
Use journaling to help clear your head as you put your words on the page and discover ways to boost your daily happiness.
In these welcoming and non-judgemental workshops, I’ll guide you through a variety of activities step-by-step. These are for anyone who wants to support their mental health and wellbeing, whether you’ve journaled before or never tried it at all.
Did you know?
Writing can improve your health
Research over the last 35 years has demonstrated that expressive writing can improve mental and physical health.
Creativity supports positivity
A study in the Journal of Positive Psychology, in 2016, indicated that engaging in a creative activity just once a day can lead to a more positive state of mind.
Journaling is hugely versatile
Journaling for wellbeing encompasses various types of writing, including lists, letters, cluster diagrams and postcards as well as easy-to-do poetry and personal stories. It can also include drawing, collage and other creative techniques.
Workshops and courses
I run Words & Wellbeing workshops online, and I also offer face-to-face sessions in and around Surrey.
My one-off workshops offer a taste of creative journaling. Here, we focus on a wellbeing-related theme while responding to a selection of carefully chosen writing prompts.
On my Words & Wellbeing courses, you have the chance to dive deeper. We explore a different theme each week, and you will get to try a wide range of journaling techniques. Prompts include photos, objects, poetry, quotes and your own life experiences. By the end of the course, you’ll have a toolkit of activities that you can turn to whenever you need them.
These workshops are an opportunity to reflect, get inspired and connect with others – all while supporting your wellbeing.

The themes were fantastic – very relatable and people’s interpretation of them was fascinating. This Words & Wellbeing course has provided a regular, safe space to focus on me, away from the hustle and bustle of life.
I am grateful for the chance to have attended this course and to have done something different. Thank you Kate for your gentle and supportive approach and for the clear way you presented everything.
It’s encouraged me to write again, to create more self care rituals and to prioritise my wellbeing … I really enjoyed every aspect.
